i have searched for details about this file _r_a_p.temp but have had no luck in resolving its origin or purpose
any ideas anyone?

Sounds to me like a temporary file used during the download or installation that would normally be deleted when finished with.
Just a guess.

Did the installation complete OK?

It arose as part of install and has a file size of zero after install

also named as temp, I simply deleted it
