How do I make a 45 degree angle in a foundation

It might be a simple solution but, for the life of me I can't seem to get my foundation to have 5 sides.. The front of the house I am designing has an angled front with a triangular porch/stoop but, the porch has to have piers and no foundation because of septic lines..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jimmy! Welcome to forum, if I understand right you will draw a wall in 45 deg angel,  to draw an angel wall you have to turn of ORTO by click on ORTO or use F8 on the keyboard you can toggle between on and of by hit the F8. Hope this short answer will help you.

Hi Jimmy,

You can also set the angle to exactly 45 degrees if you set it in Settings/ Program Settings/ Drawing Aids and set the Snap Angle to 45 degrees.
With this set and with ANGLE SNAP on (It is on the Status Bar, lower right near ORTHO), any time you get close to 45 degrees it will snap to that so it takes any guesswork out of it.

yeah.. I know how to make the walls angle.. I need the get the footer and foundation to angle.. basically with the house I am drawing cannot have a normal square foundation due to distance from the leechfield so i want to have the footer and foundation do a 45 degree.. this will pull that corner of the house an additional 8 feet from the leechfield..  (stupid rules and regulations.. lol)

BTW.. you guys answer quickly!!!

Hi Jimmy,

I am a little lost with the question. What tool are you using to create your 'foundation'?  It may be a question of different terms used in different countries. I am from Australia, Robert from Sweden and sometimes different expressions are used. However regarless of that I still can't see any problem.  Floors can have a 45 degree angle - determined by the walls ('Floor by Perimiter, or 'By Room') or you can draw the floor separately by choosing 'Floor By Picking Points'. Slabs or Pads can be done the same way and the footing is easy as there is a Tapered footing and default setting is 45 degrees.

Or do you mean that the walls of a foundation 'room' have to slope 45 degrees? I must admit this seems a bit stupid if it is what the rules and regulations require. Maybe you can clarify again just what you are trying to do and what is the element that has to slope.

Hi Jimmy,

OK so we are talking about the foundation level walls. These are the same as any other walls - if you just choose the same wall used for the foundation walls and draw it at 45 degrees across the corner, you will have the shape you want, then just delete the other two walls you do not need. You can cut the corner off the floor by right clicking and choose Cut Opening. Draw the lines to cut the corner off. You may have to add the section of footing across the 45 degree angle.

Another option, so that everything lines up exactly, would be to go to the Foundation location, select everything and delete it. Then go back to the Ground Floor location, select the walls and floor and right click, select Duplicate to Location and select the Foundation location. This will copy everything you selected to the foundation level. You can then select the walls (select one, right click, Select All Similar) and go to Properties and change the wall type to what you had as your foundation walls.  You may need to redraw the footing - select 'Stip Footing Attached To Walls' and click on each wall of the foundation - it will add the footing automatically.
