I am having problems with internal lighting in 3D rendering. When I am in standard 3D view, all lights are on and the rooms lit. When I run the rendering machine and open the image the rooms are in darkness apart from a little 'natural' light from windows. ??? ???

Any clues anyone??

Hi Edward,

The quick simple answer is to turn OFF Daylight.
When daylight is on, internal lights basically turn off, somewhat like a camera turns down the brightness if bright light is coming in through a window.  I am assuming you are using Advanced render. Set the Quality level to at least 3 to get all lights to work (if you have lots) and Antialiasing to 4 (does not affect lighting but improves the quality ofthe image). Results are also more consistent if you have all light fittings using the same bulb but for a start you will probably find turning daylight off will solve the problem.

There are several other posts you may like to read also for other details - eg: http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,1326.0.html, http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,1486.0.html and http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,80.0.html.  Some deviate from the subject slightly at times but provide different background and rendering details.

If you have other specific questions just ask again.

and if you still want sun light to stream in thru the windows (with the sun set to "off"),

fake it with lights setup outside near the windows...set so the "sunlight" direction is consistent for good shadows.

In my opinion this is an ongoing bug in the program.....all other 3D render programs with sun light render OK from interior with sun on and it does not wipe out the interior light brightness.   There usually are sufficient brightness settings for every light source to get the proper balance with little trouble....but TFP does not work that well for individual light brightness control....but work-arounds usually result in a realistic effect.
