Anyone remember v.11? Where?

I was very relieved to find this forum, and see Allan's name in it.  He was very helpful a few years ago.

I own a retail purchased (registered) copy of FloorPlan 3D v.11, since a few years ago.   I learned enough of it to basically complete a 3D model of my house that I want to remodel.   But I put it aside due to a tricky roof modeling problem plus other more pressing things at the time.
Recently I wanted to pick up the project again, and I went to log in to the forum, but it has vanished!  All of Allan's (and other) good tips are inaccessible!  Now I've searched the net in vain for a current FloorPlan 3D user group; until finally I found a link to this one.

Now that I've registered again, I see the only mention of v.11 goes to the brushoff, "this forum is for v.12" remarks.   What a disappointment, to be left in the lurch.  My work is all for naught??

If there aren't people on this forum willing to entertain questions about the older version, then where can I find such?   I'm sure I'm not the only red-haired stepchild out here.

Welcome to the TurboFloorPlan forum!!

Yes I still remember V11 (with affection I might add!!). I got some excellent renders from it and while they probably come out better and quicker from TurboFloorPlan, there is a bit of experimenting to get them right, which is a shame.  No doubt the issues (only minor and there are workarounds) will addressed in due course.

Although I liked V11, TFP (all versions) is so much more advanced, that I have not touched V11 since and no longer have it running. It was on an old PC that was replaced some time ago.  If you have questions on V11, I may be able to answer them from memory but how good that will be I don't know!!  There are several others here too though that had V11 also, so I am sure that between us we may be able to help.

Curious:  How well does v.12 work on v.11 files?  The old v11 certainly could use improvement but I haven't looked into the "Turbo" differences, big or little.

Unfortunately V12 and following version are totally incompatible. It all looks and works very similar but the technology behind it is very different. V11 was discontinued because they had run the technology to its limit and it basically could not be developed any further.

TFP is basically a cut down version of Envisioneer produced by Cadsoft. 3D is the same but 2D plan layout and printing of construction drawings has been removed. Its capabilities are dramatically improved, especially the walls, so much more flexible, as is the roof and landscaping. Have a look in the Gallery for some examples.

To be honest, knowing both programs, I would be inclined  to get V15 and use a DXF export from V11 so you can trace it again very easily. It is very quick to use and if you have experience from V11 you will soon pick it up. The time it takes to trace your original will probably soon be completely outweighed by the improved flexibility of TFP.
