Is it possible to use the scroll button on the mouse to look around the drawing when viewed 3D, as can be none in Turbocad and other cad packages.

Probably not in the sense you mean. The Walk tool is possibly the closest to it.

rolling the wheel (be sure your 3D window has the 'focus') will zoom in/out

hold down the ctrl+wheel button down and you can pan (it appears to me as pan but may be slightly different) up/down and left/right by moving the mouse....but move small amounts or view may go by too fast....this is the equivalent of "slide" tool

if you watch the  camera properties (catalog) window you can see how the camera moves as you move the mouse per above (or as view moves using any 3D view tool such as walk around or fly
