saving settings

Thanks for your prompt answers to yesterdays questions. This is such an easy program to use if I just use the default settings. I still do not understand how to save changes I make to the catalog. Example: I build a wall but want different baseboard. I go to properties and select the base I want for each side of the wall. That wall changes just fine. I save the drawing and reopen. I build another wall but it is built with the old default settings so I need to change it again. I also don't under stand the shift/click mentioned to change lots of walls at once I can only get one wall at a time to change and cannot get any to save that change. Please walk me though, one more time, how to save changes made to the catalog items including the price of the items.

Paul,

First if you want things to change in the catalog you much change them in the catalog not in the drawing.  Change them (right click) BEFORE you insert them.  Then when you close the program you will get a popup asking if you want to save the catalog changes.

In the drawing you can shift click each wall and change them all but you have to actually click on each wall. If you have the ceiling and roof turned on, then you could easily have one of them selected also and you will not get the Properties option on the right click in that case.  It must be only walls you select.  Turn the other things off, if you have difficulty selecting just walls - the use the filter ('eye'  icon) on the Advanced View Control toolbar.

The Materials Painbrush can also be useful. In 3D view select it from the Edit menu. At the top of the material pallete there is a Brush and a Dropper so you can use the dropper to select the material you want to copy and the brush to apply it to all the areas one after the other.

If you have several of the same thing in the drawing you can also change all of them but changing the one in the Catalog first to what you want it to be, then select the objects in the drawing that you want to change, right click and select Replace and then select the object that has the new settings from the catalog.  The objects in the drawing will be replaced with the one in the catalog.

Hopefully that makes more sense now.

You can modify the catalog directly regardless of the drawing contents...

go to:     menu, file, catalogs, catalog manager    and choose from libraries and elements

then find what you want to change and right click and add or edit
