Cannot select elements using an old file

I recently got a new computer and moved everything off of the old onto the new computer. I moved all of my old working files and re-installed TurboFloorPlan 16. My old activation number did not work and had to request a new one which seems to have activated it.

However now when I go into an existing file and try to select anything it does not let me select. I was able to add a roof to a buliding, but when I tried to select the roof to change the gable ends I can not select the roof. I can do an undo which removes the roof, but I can't select anything. Checked locations and made the filter to dispaly and select all.

What am I missing?

So in View Filter all the 'filter' icons are set to on (orange) and you are on the correct location?

If you still cannot select try turning off Hardware Acceleration (Settings / Program Settings / Graphics). If it works then it could i.dicate a problem with the video card driver on your PC.

Theoretically the driver on a new PC sbould be up to date but try first with the HA off and see what happens.

Hi there,

If the files worked without problems in your old computer, but they don't work in the new computer, it is a hardware problem.
You can use the program acceleration control, as Allan suggests or I'd suggest that you try to reduce the videocard acceleration --> Go to the video setup on your PC (may be different for different versions of Windows and video card); for most, click on an empty part of the windows Desktop, click on Settings->Advanced->Troubleshoot. If you are using Win 7 look for Personalize--> Performance. Back the accelerations slider to the left, one level each time and see if the problem disappears
Now, if you the accelerations controls are not available, this means that you don't have a dedicated memory for video. In this case, go to the control panel of your video chip / adapter --> performance --> move the control and set down the performance. This may help
Also, update the drivers of your videocard

Reinstall the program.

If you are on the proper location and have updated your video card and still cannot select, all I can think of is a bad install.

This is assuming that the new computer is better than the old one. If you are installing via a download of the program,it is possible something got lost in the download too.

Is this a better computer than the old?
Did you update video card?
Are you on the proper location when picking something?
You can't select anything after inserting?

Then remove and reinstall.

I made everything selectable and still nothing could be selected until I turned off the graphics acceleration.

I will try slowing down the graphics speed as suggested as well to see if that works. I will also check for updates when I get back to a faster internet connection.

Then new computer is brand new and is better than the old one. Faster processor, more memory, larger hard drive, and better graphics card. Both are running windows 7 ultimate.

Thanks for the assistance.

Hi granteck! I also use W7Ultimate on a new computer, and I can open all my old files with no problem,  so it like that you have to go with Jacks advise.
