How to startup with my current project?

In the program settings I told TFP it should startup with my current project: I selected the name and location.
But at every new run TFP presents me a blank project.
What do I do wrong?

Unless you have turned it off, the Startup Screen gives you four options:  Creat New, New From Template, Open Existing (from file) or you can choose one of the last 4 listed. Your current one is atthe top of the list.  If you have turned this off you can turn it on again in Settings / Program Settings / General. On the same screen you can choose to start up using your current file but this makes it awkward if you want to test some things out in a new blank file, which is cerrtainly recommended especially when you are getting to know the program.  Iti is better to practice on something that does not matter than on your main file.

It is also recommended that you save with a new name from time to time, so you have a backup at various key stages. This would be circumvented to some extent if you forced it to open with the same file each time.  The Startup Screen option is the best in my opinion. You can then start a new project for testing (File /New) at any time without closing the one you are working on. You can have several projects open at once as long as your computer resources allow it.

Well, in fact I did prefer and try to start up with my current file - but the problem is that TFP opens that file but calls it Project 1 (as if it was still nameless). So every time after opening I must save that file as MyNewestVersion.bld, otherwise all the autosaves and the backups have confusing project 1 names as well.
If I ask TFP to open my current project I expect it to do so under the current name as well. Wrong assumption?

I do store previous versions from time to time in a separate archive folder - the you-never-know-folder...

Using that method it will treat your file as a Template on which to build a new project. In fact that is not a practical way to start up for that reason.  You would have to keep saving it back to the Templates folder and overwrite the file each time. It would Open Ok but be a pain to save.

There are a number of ways to start a current file as in the image below.
I usually use the one on the TFP StartUp screen to select it from, but you can pin also it to the Windows Start Menu, Open TFP first and choose it from the recent files list or open TFP by DoubleClicking the file where you saved it.

Will use one of your workarounds - but I do miss the startup option 'startup with my last used file/project' (which many similar applications have, such as adobe and acdsee)
