Line won't snap to edge of roof

I am trying to snap a line to the edge of the roof in the process of creating gutters. For some reason the line will not snap to the roof edge, although it has done in the past. Any clues as to the problem. No settings have been changes as I use the same template.
Allan, any progress on figuring out why the box gutter you produced causes a crash when rendering.

Jack Zimmer

I do not see a solid line for my roof when in 2D Plan view. Mine is dashed. Are you sure you are in 2D Plan view. Other than that, try save / close and reopen. All other settings / snaps seem to be correct.

I have not had a chance to look at it yet, although I will just make a new one. Nothing to see on the existing one.

Thanks Allan, I was a bit curious as to why this was happening as I created a box gutter profile and the same thing happened. I look forward to your next attempt.

Burgo

Jack, thanks for the reply. Yes, I am in 2d plan. I have closed and reopened the file, still no joy. I have changed the line to solid for my roofs. Could it have something to do with the graphic card.

Jack Zimmer

Hi Bob,

What happens when you try the same in a new file? Have you lost snap in all files or just this one?  I've not seen that happen before.

Z

Burgo

Jack, same happens in a new file selected from my building template. See file attached.

Jack Zimmer

Snaps OK for me. Sorry but I don't know what to tell you Bob.

Works fine for me too Bob.
I presume you have Object Snap turned on?

Have you got it set too precise maybe in Settings / Programme Settings / Drawing Aids?  I have mine set a 4 pixels.

Allan & Jack, thanks for your replies.
Allan, I have the precision set to 4, so that appears not to be the issue. Object snaps are turned on
Jack, maybe the problem is just with my software and computer. I have again tried several times to get lines to snap to roof ends using varying zoom positions, but none work. I will persist.

Hi Burgo, Allan and Jack!
Turn of gridsnap and it will work, what I can see is you have 500mm grid and the edge of the roof will not match this grid.

PS I don't knew if I have replay to you Allan abut my change of my user-name, that's OK you use my old user-name/ Robert

Hi Robert,

Bob's project still snaps perfectly for me whether GridSnap is on or off.

Yes I did know that you had changed your username - it is just that I prefer to use the first name if I know it, as it seems more friendly. It can be confusing though, if you have two or three Roberts all contributing to the one post, as we did a few weeks ago! ;D    In the user Profile you can choose to display your real name (or any other name for that matter) instead of your username which is what I do. My username is quite different.  However I can use you username if you prefer(?)

Hi Allan!

Kajvin is the name I use on Flickr and I have some  texture there how is free to use and nearly all my images from TFP, I have still both name in my screen-name so that is OK to use Robert or Kajvin that is up to you maybe you can use Kajvin then there is more then one Robert in the thread so we know how you answer. If you Goggle Kajvin you can see what I mean.

The line snap for me to with GridSnap On but after convert the line to gutter I couldn't fine tune the gutter to the edge of the roof because it jump to next grid line, the turn of GridSnap it work OK.

Robert, in my case, it makes no difference if the snap in on or off. Bit of a mystery at this stage as Allan & Jack have no issues with the file I posted.
