Catalog Elements Lost

I had started a project in an earlier version and now in the new version I do not have the custom elements thatI had created. Is there a way to get my old catalog back or copy the paramenters to new elements. the old elements are in the properties, but not listed in the catlog. for example I had created a custom wall, height, siding, color, door sills, etc. now none of the customization is there. I did with the upgrade transfer to e new computer. Does that have anyhting to do with it? I hate to have to recreate all of the custom elements.

Hi Grantec,

If you still have the old computer the just copy the catalogue into the catalogues folder on the new one and use it instead of the new one. I am still using one that I customised on V12.

You could also open the old program and export the customised items as a BIM file and import them to the new catalogue.

Hi Grant,

The old file you were working on should still have the elements you created. Maybe you have multile files with customized elements.

All you should have to do if you have lost your catalog of them, is to open the files, select File / Catalog / then Save Element to Catalog and click on the element you want to be place in your new catalog.

It is best that you make sure that the element you are added has a 'name' in it's properties that is different than an existing element.

Suggest if you decide to use an old catalog to save it with a different file name so it does not replace the default newer catalog;
then you can use either/both (one at a time)....and you can delete un-needed stuff from old catalog to keep it smaller if you want to add new stuff to it and yet always have all the default stuff if you would ever need it.
