        Hi everybody :

Question :   How do you make  'slanted' ceilings ?   Instead of a flat ceiling, have part of the ceiling  on an angle. Usually it's the kind of ceiling seen when you've got a dormer window cut in......   On floors,  one could use the 'ramp'  tool and make the floor gradually rise to the desired level.

                                                                                                                                                         garystan

Hi Garytan,

Ceilings are exactly the same as the Roof. Just select the edge, (green arrow) go to Properties and change the style to Cathedral and set the slope exactly as you would to for a roof.

Hi Allan and everyone,

But how do you get a ceiling that slopes up to a point in the middle?
When I do a cathedral ceiling, it slopes all 4 sides up to a central ridge, but what if you want to have the central ridge running the full length of the room so the ceiling slopes up by say 20 degrees from two opposite walls to peak in the centre, and it is then sloping up be 90 from the remaining two walls, so there is one ridge line. I have tried clicking on the individual arrows at the edges of the ceiling to set the angle from all sides, but unfortunately it doesn't like it, because before I've set all 4, it says it is an impossible ceiling.

Any ideas?

Hi JB,

The sloping ceiling is really no different than a sloping roof. When you select the ends make sure you have only the ends that you want as gables selected. If you have others selected too it would say it was impossible.
