How do I set the behavior on stairs? Need to have a set sit on a deck 5 ft off the ground and connect to an upper deck 9 ft above the first. I haven't figured out how to build the upper deck yet but want the stairs first to determine the location.

Thanks for all your help

Paul

Paul I hope I understood You right but this is what I com up with.

First of all I maid 2 decks with Raised Level Construction (Decks under Landscape tab) the 2 decks have now the same hight.

I open the property of the first 5 ft deck then change the Height above current location: to 5 ft then I open the property of the 9 ft deck and change Height above current location: to 9 ft.

Now to the stair betwen the 2 decks: under the Basic tab change the defult (Extend Stair: Down to terrain) to Extend Stair:  Explicit Height and set the Overall Height: to slightly under 3 ft. Now you have a stair that connect to the first deck. from the first deck to the ground use the standard settings.

Robert
Edit: I should have read more carfully You said 9 ft over the first deck as in my second image, but the procedure is the same but diffrent numbers.
In alt 3 You have to cut a hole in the 2.ed deck for the stair same stair as in alt 2/end edit

thanks for your excellent drawings and advice. It is too advanced for me at this time but I am sure I will figure it out with time. I have been using the building stairs. I have not been able to figure out how to use the deck stairs. I just get a pencil and crosshairs when I try to add deck stairs.

Hi Paul You can only use deck stairs in combination with deck construcktion. / Have a nice and Happy New Year Robert
