basement stairwell

I'd like to create a trench for a basement stairwell, but haven't figured a way to do it.  I could use some help.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

I presume you mean a hole in the Terrain where you can insert a stair. If so the easiest way is probably to use the Pad tool on the Terrain toolbar. Just draw the Pad the shape you want with it set as a negative figure that is the basement depth, then insert the stairs at basement level.
