Creating half a gable roof

I need to add half of a gable roof about one foot wide under the main roof on the ground floor.  Though I managed to do this on the garage side I can't seem to do it on the main entrance side.  I've attached screen captures to show the existing roof, the west elevation I want to change and a hand drawn version of the gable I want to create.

I can see what you want to achieve but it would be easier to determine how to achieve it if you could post a copy of the BLD file.

Thanks for sending the file. I have had a look at it and think the easiest way to add the piece of roof you want, is to use the Surface tool. It will allow you to simply draw a piece of roof and set the slope, thickness etc to match your existing roof.

It is easiest to draw it away from the house and then just right click and Move it into position. You can resize, etc later to match it exactly into the main roof.  Set the Lower Point to the wall height (9') - click the little Lock alongside the box to unlock it and then lock it again after you enter the height.

Try the Surface tool and if you need further help with it just ask.

Thank you very much for your expertise, guidance and willingness to be a sensei.  The Surface Tool proved to be the best solution and I have made the adjustments to the design.  It did take me a couple of tries to realize that you must lock the Upper Point before you can unlock the Lower Point to make the needed adjustment in height.
Also, the landscaping you added made the place look even better!
By the way,  until I posted this question I had used dozens of your responses to other questions on the forum to solve problems I encountered in designing our house.  Thank you again for sharing your knowledge.

Yes the Lock / Unlock is difficult to latch onto initially - OK  once the concept sinks in!
