I went to place a fireplace in my drawing, and was flummoxed when I couldn't find one.

Turning to the User's Guide and doing a search for "fireplace" turned up one substantive "hit': page 177 titled "Design & Drawing Power Tools" listed "Chapter 29: Fireplace Wizard" on page 233, but it's not there.  In fact, none of the "Designers" mentioned on page 177 except for "Fence Designer" exist in the User's Guide.

Is there any easy way to proceed here?  Or am I missing something?

Yes, I think that you are missing the 3D objects. Did you check the Furnishing library?

Interior Fireplaces => Furnishing library => Fireplaces Category
Exterior Fireplaces => Furnishing library => Exterior Category => Exterior Fireplaces Sub category.

Hi Patricia:

As a complete and utter noob with this program I hadn't even explored the Furnishing library.  I just figured a fireplace would be available from one of the tabs, (Foundation, Floor, Electrical, etc.), and since the entrance way is the bar titled "Furnishings" I figured that was exactly what I'd find over there - tables, chairs, lamps and the like.  I'll admit that I find the selection process somewhat confusing - the drop down menus change names as you make selections - but I did eventually find the interior and exterior fireplaces, and thank you for that.

I deal better with any piece of software when I understand the concepts - and the user manual is pretty thin in that regard - but it looks like the Furnishings library is basically a repository of objects you can place in your plan.  Is it as simple as that?

Looking at the collection of objects that come up when you click on the "Plumbing" tab, then "Sinks" in the resulting toolbar, then select "Bathroom Sinks" from the "Sinks" drop down menu, I count 15 different versions.  Going through the Furnishings library to "Lavatory Sink" I count 23 different versions, most of which are the same as the Plumbing tab collection.   Is there any user control over where a version of a bathroom sink shows up?

Yes. At the end of the menu, there is a Search field that you can use to locate the desired effect.

Yes, the difference between Components and Objects, as explained in the user's guide.
