I am trying to put the word "HOTEL" arranged vertically, "H" over "O" over "T" over "E" over "L", on the front of the building.
I can get "HOTEL" onto the plan, but not onto the wall.
I would appreciate some help.

There are probably several solutions but approach I would use for ease of control etc.  is:

Make a .jpg image of text exactly what you want using another graphics program...letter colors and vertical format etc.

Insert a cube type object for the sign (one with textures available for any side and sized like you want; probably tall and thin and wide enough for the lettering)

Then apply the .jpg image to one or two sides of the "cube" shape

Alternatively you could easily make your text as a .3ds object (get free program from web "elefont.exe") and import the text object....and could be "blended" (allow collision) with a "cube" shape to generate a 3D text on a "sign" box and even make text "glow" like neon using material property of "emissive"
