Room Division to Create Openings

After I use the room division tool to cut away the floor to allow for the stairs to pass through I encounter two problems.

1. If the opening works correctly, a black outline remains around the area the floor was cut from even when using rendered display mode.  In order to print out views of rooms for a presentation board I need to get rid of these lines.  Does anyone know how to?

2.  Sometimes the opening won't be open to the level below where the stairs initiated.  When creating the room division and selecting delete the floor deletes but the adjacent ceiling of the level below remains intact which blocks the cut away hole in the floor.  I need to know how to make the ceiling disappear in these areas that I have already removed the floor.  Please help I'm desperate this project is due tomorrow.  THanks!  :)

Normally you would use the right click Cut Opening. When I do this I do not get a black line. It is not just the edge colour of the opening is it?  You can change that on Appearance tab.

You must but the hole in the ceiling also. You could just delete the ceiling and just use the bottom surface of the floor as the ceiling.

For some reason it doesn't want to let me cut an opening in the ceiling.  The black line is not a result of the edge color of the opening it is just a dotted black line at the top of the floor...

If I delete the ceiling and leave the bottom side of the floor as the "ceiling" then there are openings from the walls above that show through when on the level before when you look up at the "ceiling".

ceiling below is cut when you cut an opening into the floor

suggest you select the floor you want to cut an opening into, right click on the floor and click on "help" for floors...it will explain what you might want to know

when I cut or use room division, an opening for the stairs does NOT render a black outline but does make a very thin black edge to sharply indicate horizontal from vertical, i.e. the edge ....perhaps if you have h/w acceleration "on", try it as "off" for the render and see if it renders differently at the black edge.

If still an issue, suggest post a .jpg render and the .bld file for others to see, to render your file, and to make a similar view and compare render images that look alike...

Also edge may be visually enhanced and show more if a bright light is generating a dark shadow edge?
