Looks like you have been able to balance indoor and outdoor lighting quite well

And apparently your render reset works now?

Any tips on how to balance indoor light with outdoor sun....other than you other post on the subject?

PS  I'm now thinking outdoor stuff renders better if there is a house in the scene somewhere (out of camera view may be OK); and may run a test if my objects alone outside are still troublesome because renderings seem to work OK/better when a one room house is in place.

Doug,

No I have not got the reset working.  I get perfectly consistent renders every time but I MUST close the whole program and re-open between renders otherwise the results are unpredictable at best and total white at worst.  Reset does not seem to do anything.

Re balanceing - I did a post under Tips "Excellent rendering si possible etc..." that had a few more findings on the subject - specs of now the images where produced.  This photoboard one is a section of one of those.

I am about to do another one in Help (today hopefully) that is related also.  Similar problem to one I reported earlier about differences in rendering inside and out.  It may also relate to your speculation about buildings elsewhere. I am amazed about the realism of these latest simple renders but some startling inaccuracies also.  More work needed (by us or the programmers) in this area I think.

Um, sounds more and more like a bug, as if essential render parameters are not being reset between runs...

But where is it ?? TFP main, the rendering engine(s), interface to OpenGL etc ??

D'uh...

And I'm left wondering about those BMPs...

I'm no graphics expert, but I remember researching different 'depths' of Texture BMPs for why only some would support masking. Turned out that FP could not use the 'deeper' BMPs, never mind 'alpha' channel...

Can you open yours in eg IrfanView, which may offer more info about file internals ?? Saving the same base-file as different depths etc may offer a clue...

Please, don't give up !!
