hyperlinks

Hello,

I'am new here and new with turbo floorplan. I wanted to make a website where people can walk through.

Now I tried a little bit and put some hyperlinks at objects. I exported it as vrml and looked at it in the browser (i have cortona installed).

How does it come that i can't see the trees (they are white) and the hyperlink don't work.

Is there anyone who can tell me if i forgot something to do?

Hi Oosie,

Welcome to the TurboFLOORPLAN and the Forum.

I must admit I have not used the vrml output from TFP nor have I worked with hyperlinks so I am not a good one to answer this question. However the trees are actually photos with transparent surrounds (so they are just rectangles really with a pink area around the trees that the program cannot see so it become transparent).  From my past experience with vrml files they do not reproduce textures very well, if at all, so I would imagine that this would apply to the photoboard trees also. You may find that imported 3DS trees would reproduce OK.  No ideas on the hyperlinks - were they attached to the trees or what?

Thank you for the answer. So i can import trees in 3ds format, ok i wil try that. The hyperlinks i put it on objects like trees, or watersprinklers.

Hi Oosie,

Search the web for 3DS trees, you will find many and many as free. Remember that file size on some can be very high and if you have too many TFP can slow down dramatically.

I am on the train at present - when I get home tonight I will try to remember to zip up a few I have and attach them for you.

EDIT:  Well I am home now. I have posted a BLD file instead with some 3DS trees inserted.  You can see what they look like this way and just add to your catalog the ones you want.  To add them go to File/Catalog/Save Element to Catalog and then click on the ones you want to add. I had them in "Accessories on Terrain" so that is probably where it will save them.  You will notice how big the BLD file is with just half a dozen or so trees, so you can see how file size would jump if you had a lot!  Make sure you save the catalog when you close or to be safe, go to File/Catalog/Catalog Manager and then select File/Save.

The BLD file differes from the image as I had to delete two trees as it was too big for the Forum to accept it. I deleted one that I did not think looked very realistic anyway and the other was an autumn version of the Birch so you can set the autumn colours anyway if you want.  The colours may not transfer anyway so you may have to reset all.

Hi Allen,

Here I'am back again. I tried to open the bld file into floorplan, but i get a popup ( can not load file, because its created in a newer version than i have. I have version 12.

Now i go to look on the web for searching 3ds trees. And have to find out for how to get the hyperlinks work in the vrml file.

I let you know what i found.

Hi Oosie,

If you cannot open the file it means you have not applied the free upgrade. See the link at the bottom of this Forum. It fixes a number of bugs especially in the rendering area - maybe in vrml too.

Hi Allen,

Well i did what you said and its now good. Now i could open the bdl file you send me and saved it the way you wrote. I go to file, catalogs, save element to catalog and then click on the tree to save it.  It was succesfully saved. But now i have one problem, I can,t find them. I don't know where it saved them.

Hi Oosie,

You will probably find them under Exterior Accessories as that is where mine were. They may be in a Group named Plants or just <Default>.
