I did my proposed drawing in TFP and exported them onto an A2 worksheet. Made an appointment with the local planner and showed the prints, photos and the images on screen. The main purpose was to see if there are likely to be any problem with the proposal. I asked what type of plans they would require. It was indicated that with some cross section added the current plans would be sufficient. I showed them the cross section that TFP produced and asked if they would be OK. The comment that was passed was

I will leave any comments about UK planning to Peter. I left any childhood dreams about that, 55 years ago! Trying now (in my second childhood) to get my head around Australian planning!

However, just a thought on Sections: Dont forget the Quick 3D View. With that you get rendered elevations etc and you can switch them to wireframe or hidden line. If you want a detailed Section you can use the Dynamic Cutaway to remove the front of the view and you should have just what they want.

In the UK the drawing requirements are minimal and formal specs non-existant.

Create yourself as a professional user and you can create a Planning Application on-line with all the correct documents.

Dont worry that you are not a professional user, they never check (you can be part time or applying for a friend - no problems). 

Dont worry about accidentally posting an application or anything like that, that will only happen if you get your credit card out and give the details - no payment no application!

Applying as a so called 'professional' they almost do the application for you!

On eBay you can buy CDs full of plans for next to nothing which are useful for a guide.

I have never had much success with sections; they always just look poor compared to the floor plans. It could be that I'm just not doing something right.  Just on a slightly different note, is it best to start again and redraw the plans for V14 rather than import them from V12?

I have attached an image where I have squashed a number of elevations and sections onto a worksheet, also a closer one of a section done with the cutaway converted to wireframe. I have just added a few dimensions as an example.

If you have a V12 that you are happy with then there should be no reason to restart it. You could open it and switch to Worksheet view to create your worksheets.  Alternatively go to worksheet and do a Tools/ Insert CAD file.  This allows you to import a DXF or DWG file. You can then Explode and edit it line by line or just add dimensions and comments. If you just export a DXF from your V12 to use in the Worksheet it be best to export as 2D not 3D.

In the new layouts the elevations are excellent.
