Convert PXF help

Hi there,

I use Punch for my rendering work. Last week, I saw some images developed with TurboFLOORPLAN, and as I liked them, I am considering the purchase of this sw

I downloaded / installed the V14 version for the 15 days trial period and also, I downloaded / installed the PXF plug in in order to convert my Punch files to PXF and then to the BLD format. The conversion stage using the Power Tool worked fine (PRO to PXF)
The problem appeared in the second stage --> as I tried to convert the file in TurboFLOORPLAN (PFX to BLD)--> I click --> File--> Convert--> Convert PXF--> I see the list of files I converted to PXF--> select one of them--> Open--> I see the 3 screens showed in the PDF attached--> the program closes

I tried to converted 10 files from PXF to BLD with the same results

What am I doing wrong? any setting to review?

Hi

These messages are caused by unhandled errors in the program.

Probably bugged out.  It could be the C++ runtime files that are out of date on your PC.  You can download the latest set here http://www.microsoft.com/downloadS/details.aspx?familyid=9B2DA534-3E03-4391-8A4D-074B9F2BC1BF&displaylang=en

I am a programmer myself and doubt you can fix it.  Install the runtimes and if that doesnt work contact IMSI support.

I downloaded / installed the file, however, as you said, didn't solve the case

I submited a ticket, I will let you know if I get any solution

I tried to contact the TD dept. 

perhaps I am wrong but for this program there is not free tech assistance? even in the trial version?

Anyway, I submited a ticket

Hi Archi,

I cannot help with PXF conversions as I do not use Punch, but I have drawn your question to the attention of the Product Manager at IMSI Design, so hopefully he can help in due course.

In the meantime you could also try the Envisioneer Forum (http://www.cadsoft1.com/customercare/).  CADsoft produce both products, Envisioneer being the 'parent' product to TurboFLOORPLAN. You may find some of the users there have experienced your issues and can help if you ask them.

It appears that it does work from the last entry in this TFP topic: http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,795.0.html. The crash you are getting MAY indicate a corrupt wall or something like that in the original Punch file.  TFP will sometimes crash when there is a corrupt wall join. Maybe the original Punch file you are using sees some wall element as corrupt.  Have you tried just creating a new, very simple 4 walls and a roof in Punch and convert that as a test - it may establish whether it is the file you are trying to convert that has a problem, rather than the conversion software.

Yes, I did some tests with simple structures and I got something.....

For example, the roof--> the ridge is pointing to the ground 
The window is a black rectangle
The walls are random

Perhaps you're right about the corrupted file . Or perhaps the file gets "lost in translation" with some interference.
I will be glad to work with someone at Imsi Design offering all my experience with Punch, in order to get a solution, however, my TurboFLOORPLAN trial period is expiring in a week.

Hi Archi,

I did check before and there are a few references on the Envisioneer Forum to Punch but as you say, non to PXF.  You could always ask the question anyway, (need to register) as their forum is actively monitored by CADsoft, who ultimately are responsible for the programming of both programms.  Enhancements to Envisioneer appear in TFP a little later, though of course it does not get everything, as Envisioneer has additional functionality for professional builders, and hence the professional price!

Your test results may indicate that the roof was designed for here (Australia) hence upside down!!! and the windows black because it was night time here!!! (no suggestions on the random walls though).

If TFP can do what you need better than Punch, do you need to worry about converting files for new projects? TFP is VERY quick once you are familiar with the tools.

Well, (LOL) if you like the Deconstructivism, you are welcome to use the attached "design" , roof included   

Now, becoming serious. I think that, if a sw manufacturer releases a program or a version, with a trial version, I'd expect at least some type of free trial support, even email support for the new feature would be fine. But once I didn't get a single word answering my tickets, I cannot buy or recommend the purchase / use of this program

Sorry I've been scrambling to get you an answer on this and last week was short a few resources.
So I have now forwarded this to CADSoft who we license the code to for their input, but it would help if you
could email me a .PCX file to test.
Also what exact version and Punch product are you using for the test file(s).   They've got several
versions and products as you probably know.
