Need help on Exterior Cavity Wall

Trying to build an exterior wall constructed of 4" brick, 1" air cavity and 4" insulated stud wall for a total of 9".  Cannot find any cavity walls in catelog.  Can anyone help?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

You will probably find this post from a few days ago (http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,1202.0.html), will answer your questions re cavity/veneer walls.  Technically TurboFLOORPLAN does not display internal wall details such as this and they are certainly cannot be set in TFP - only the Core width, which become the total wall width.  These things can be fully customised in Envisioneer - the parent program, but it is 25-30 times the price!

TFP will display these details however if they have previously been configured hence the BIM files in the post referred to above.  However, the BIM files I attached to the other post were metric, so I have made one 4"x1"x4" for you (and another 4"x2"x3").  Both also have a further 1/2" for the drywall lining.  If you would like it without the 1/2" lining let me know. The files in the other post although metric should become Imperial when you import them but the interior dimensions may be slightly different, hence the files attached to this post.

These walls are adjustable in TFP by changing the Core dimension but this will only change the inner part of the wall, the cavity and vereer remain the same.  You can import the BIM file at File/ Catalogues/ Import BIM and it will become part of your catalogue.

While this does not solve your problem completely, hopefully this will help.

Thanks Allan for the quick response.  Unfortunately I do not seem to be able to import this file into the catalog in that there is no "Import BIM" option.  I have researched the help files and it seems that the only files my version recognizes are DXF,3DS or SKP files.  The version of TFP I am running is 12.00.C1.5511.  Is this option available in a newer version or am I just missing something?

Hi again.

If I recall the import/export of BIM files was introduced in V14, which explains why you do not have it, so I am not sure if I can help. 
Leave it with me and I will just see if I still have V12 running and if I have a Veneer Wall in that. If I have, I can insert it into a project and if you open the project you should be able to transfer it to your catalogue that way.

Back again.

Try opening the attached BLD file.  It is V12 and I assume the same version number (yours ends 5511 mine 551 so maybe you mistyped it) so it should open OK.  Once open, go to File/ Catalogues and select Save Element to Catalogue - then click on the wall. It will add it to your catalogue. Re open the file where you want to use it and it should be there to use.

Are you sure this wall is not already there?  It is called Solid Brick Wall in my V12 catalogue, but when inserted and the walls join to make a room, it adds the veneer. You cannot adjust any of the settings, just the total width and the veneer is obviously narrower than you want but it may be the only thing you can get in V12 I'm afraid.  I have not looked at V12 for many years and had not realised the number of changes that have happened. In V14 and V15 (current one) you can also choose the framing and display it in the plan and other views. The V12 Veneer wall only shows the parallel lines in the wall plan but not the framing but may be close to what you want.
