More fun!

Did you close down all other programs including virus scanners during the installation? Did you also Run as Administrator?  If not, you may have to uninstall and re-install with the above conditions and even in Compatibility Mode if it is Vista. (See the link in the other post).

However, before you do that, you may only need to register the DLL itself only to make things work.

I had a similar issue with TFP, after installing a trial version of Envisioneer.  It caused issues with TFP so it would not save or open a new project. I sent an email to Support and received a very prompt reply to say that the BldFileIcons.DLL needed to be registered again. (the message you got)

We had many emails to and fro trying to get Windows 7 to accept me doing it -I had to be able to do it with the 'Run As Administrator' option but none of the Run options allows that (you would probably have even more of those issues with Vista).

Finally I was able to do register the DLL by going to Start / Program Files / Accessories / Command Prompt (instead of Run) and this had the right click "Run as Administrator" option.  So the Command Prompt opened and the text in orange in the image was keyed in, (regsvr32 + file location) followed by Enter! AND IT WORKED - the DLL was registerd and my save and open problems went!

The address of this file is where BldFileIcons.DLL is on my PC. You would have to make sure yours is in the same place - it probably is if you accepted the default settings during installation.

Don't panic - if this does not solve the problem I am sure Pat can work it out with you.
