Building Locations

  I'm trying to use the attic space.   I managed to cut the hole, inser the stairs and railing (yyyyeeessssssss!!!)
  But, the problem is establishing this "space" as a 3rd floor.   I added a new building location.  Labeled it ATTIC.
  But, having a problem getting the  "handrail" to surround the opening in the flor (of the attic).
     Does TurboFLOOR Plan allow a 3rd floor ?

Hi Garystan,

You can have at least 99 floors if you want - maybe more!
I don't quite understand the comment "having a problem getting the  "handrail" to surround the opening in the flor (of the attic)."  Are you trying to put a separate handrail around the stair opening?

Also, if this is an attic, in the sense that the walls are the sloping inside of the roof, I was just wondering what you had as the wall height for the Attic Location? If you do not get that right at the start you will have issues later, so thought I would ask at this early stage. I wondered whether this may be the issue with the handrail - is there room for it? It worked fine in my test (see image below). What actually happens when you try to insert it?

            I did manage to get the railings set.   
            I started thinking in terms of real life.  The contstruction worker would carry the
        railings up to the location where he would install them.    So, what I did was,  I set
        the railing up on the second floor.   And did an "elevate".    I "elevated" them up to
        the attic floor.   After that, I just positioned them.   And...voila....................

Hi Garystan,

I am glad you got the railings installed OK.  There are many way of doing things in TFP and as long as you get it to end up the way you want then it does not really matter how you get there. It helps sometimes to think "outside of the square" as they say, to be able to do "impossible" things. The elevator is a handy tool isn't it?

At the same time however, there is no reason why a construction worker could not construct the railings in the attic itself - in real life he would not have an automatic 'elevator'. (I bet many wish there was such a thing though!)  What was the problem when you tried to erect the railings in the attic itself?
