Does anyone know how to put a light into the top of niche?
And which light would you use?

Thanks,
T.

I'm not at all sure what niche you are speaking about...but if its part of a wall, I'd try a wall sconce.  You can adjust the overall size to fit your space.

If you just want a light source and no fixture, you can select nearly any light and make all the parts transparent...then just the small red cube remains as the light source which renders as light but you never see it.

At this point I remember that you can't successfully import a .3ds object into the lighting category (bug) so you are limited to the fixtures included in TFP

As Doug says, setting a light to invisible is one option.

In this example you can see the ceiling light dropped to the top of the niche.

Excellent! That's exactly what I was looking for... and much obliged for the visual too!!

Very helpful; thanks so much :)

Another thought....

If you can't find a fixture that looks like what you want...insert any item or import one...and do not be concerned if it is a "light" fixture at all....put it in position.

Then insert a real TFP light, and as noted above, make all parts transparent, and use the "bulb" to generate the light and place it near the fixture you inserted and no-one will know the difference, but you will have maximum control over your design.

Or select a light that looks like what you want and "delete" (make transparent) any parts you don't like but leave part there, such as a shade, that suits your needs.
