3D View Problem

Hi All
        I am new user, i am facing a problem when i want to view a file in 3d.
When i click on 3D Camera view, i am unable to view the file in 3D. Only lines, when i click on the Camera 3D properties i am able to see a 3D view, but when i take the cursor over the picture, again only lines appear.

What is difference between perspective view and 3d over view. I also attach the image file for understanding.

How i will get the solution.

Hi and Welcome to the forum,

First of all, Perspective and 3D Overview, are just two preset cameras positions, one looking at eye level and the other looking down on the model.  You can move these  cameras wherever you want using the Navigation toolbar.  Best thing to do is just try each of the icons on this toolbar and see how it moves the model. If you also watch the mini plan on the right you swill see how the camera moves with each. The most common one is Walk (two feet icon). On the eyelevel view it will walk you through the model as you move the mouse.  You can also adjust the view on the mini plan view by draging the camera or viewpoint accros the plan and various other settings too. Play with them all to see how it works. You can cahnge the name of the camera too in this side dialog box.

Where you see these two original camera options you will also notice a third - 'Place New Camera'. If you select this in Plan view, just click close to the model (or inside it) and move the mouse in the direction you want to view and click. You will then see an eyelevel view of your model from the selected point - again you can then Walk through it.

The different display effects you are seeing could be one of two things. Either you have switched the view to Wireframe view or there is a computer video card or resources problem.  The model can be displayed in several modes, Wireframe being one of them and another being Rendered. These are the two view you seem to be getting from the different cameras. Use View / Display mode to check these out. 

Normally however the view mode would not change as you change camera angles. Try turning off Hardware Accelerartion (Settings/ Program Settings / Graphics) and see it that makes any difference.  This is only a test, as it will make things run slower (jerky) but it may indicate if this is where the problem lies. If it fixes the display issue, then you may need more memory (turning off other programs you are not using may help) or you may need to update your computer's video display driver.

If turning of HA fixes the problem and you need more details or guidance with updating the video driver, then get back to us giving you computer and video card details and hopefully Pat or another technical user, may be able to help. (I'm not a computer expert i'm afraid!  )

Regarding video card i am going to consult the local hardware person.

Checking out the PC may be a good idea. I mentioned before the possibility of a memory issue. That was not memory related to the Video card as you cannot add memory to the video card but you will notice on the Read Me file that came with the program ,that they recommends it be used with all other programs closed. Depending on your computer you can get away with quite a few programs open but if resources are limited it may cause issues. In your case it is more likely a video card problem I suspect.
