Hi guys,

Wondering if one of you might know what's wrong...

I'm running Windows 7 on an i7 and I've just purchased a new copy of TurboFloorPlan 3D Home & Landscape Pro.  Everything works fine; I can build houses, import furniture et cetera, but when I try to import a plant (grass, tree, shrub...) I get the following error message saying the program can't see the database.  When I click on "retry" the program gets stuck in a loop.  If I click on "cancel" I get the second error message stating there is a duplicate of a file and then it gets stuck in another loop and I have to reboot the computer...VERY FRUSTRATING!  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software three times.  Still no change. Any ideas?

Hi Gaz and welcome to the forum,

This problem has appeared in a couple of instances previously (one of them mine) and appears to relate to the link to the file "Garden.db". What I suggest is that you read these two posts and see if they help.

http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,1733.msg7932.html#msg7932 and http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,1164.0.html

The first one hopefully will be sufficient for you to solve the problem - ask again if not.

The second one (starting from Reply 8 ) relates to my own experience with the same messages as you had. It proved to be a long saga finally involving my laptop being rebuilt and then stolen while in a computer repair shop! Apparently the actual problem though, was that Vista had become corrupted and file connections were broken in the process - hopefully that is not the cause in your case!!.

Let us know how you get on with it.

Allan,

Thank you for your prompt reply, I'll go and have a look at the posts now, I did do a search for related topics on the forum but I couldn't find any.  I'll let you know how I get on.

Okay...

First I installed the program (TURBOFloorPlan3D Home & Landscape PRO version 16) on an old desktop computer and it worked fine (and REALLY SLOWLY!).  After many frustrating attempts at solving the problem I got a family member who's a computer genius...and after about half an hour he came up with this fix...

The program wanted to access the garden database at; C:\Users\All Users\Application Data\IMSIDesign\TURBOFloorPlan3D Home & Landscape PRO 16\Plant Encyclopedia
So I went to "C:\users\"
Rightclicked "All Users"
Clicked on "properties"
Looked at the target location;  "D:\ProgramData" this is the "All users" folder
Then created a folder and placed the "garden.db" file into D:\ProgramData\Application Data\IMSIDesign\TURBOFloorPlan3D Home & Landscape PRO 16\Plant Encyclopedia

Now the program can "see" the database and it's hummingaway beautifully!
I hope this fix may help others who encounter the same problem to loose less sleep over the solution than I did!

Hi Gaz,

Thanks for passing on the 'fix' - as you said it may help someone else later. I am not sure why this happens on some computers occasionally (only the second I know about other than my own) - very strange.  I certainly am NOT a computer genius but pleased to here that you had one available!  ;)

Whereabouts in Adelaide do you live? My wife was born in Lobethal but was living in Klemzig when we were married.

Hi again Allan,

I'm originally a New South Welshman (from Goulburn, near Canberra), but I'm now living in Golden Grove, do you know the area?

Hi Garry,

I have been through the area but not really familiar with it. My sister-in-law lived up that way but that was a long time ago and we did not get over there very often.

I am really glad you got the Garden.db sorted. My incident with Vista was a real trauma, but worked out well since I ended up with a much better PC.

All the best,
