Hello,

Has anyone else run into this?  I was running TFP v16 pro on a windows xp sp3 machine.  It was working fine and then I started using the measuring tool when I noticed that after working fine for a while it started lagging then freezing.  After restarting the program and the computer a few times, now the TFP splash screen is displayed then it disappears and the TFP fails to start at all.  Everything else on the computer is working fine.  I will uninstall and reinstall TFP and see if that fixes the problem.

Hi there,

Before you install / uninstall, try to do a general maintenance in your computer, including disk cleanup, update the drivers, defrag, registry clean up, run a good antivirus and a good anti malware program ( Lavasoft, Malwarebytes or Spybot)
Don't forget to create a restore pont, just in case...  ;)

Let us know about the results

Thanks Pat.  I have a very good Anti Virus program (Norton, in my opinion).  I reinstalled TFP and tried the same thing except with a different drawing, one I created following the quick start, and there were no problems what soever, everything worked smoothly.  But when I loaded the drawing that I was working on, the same problem occurred.  This leads me to believe that my drawing is somehow corrupted.  I wonder if there is a way to repair it.

Hi Elie,

Please, open the corrupted file --> File --> repair project

Hello,

I found the bug.  The problem is not with the drawing, it is a bug in TFP.  The difference between the two drawings is that in my house drawing I set the units of measure to feet and #.## format (see attached screen shot), this caused the measure tool to hang up.  Once I changed back to feet and inches or even just inches, the measure tool worked fine.  I even went back to the other drawing which had no problem with the measure tool and set the units to feet and #.## format and this caused the exact same problem.  Draftcad, the Repair Project made no difference.   Hopefully, IMSI will make a patch available to address the bug.

Thanks,

Elie

To verify it is a real bug.... maybe someone else could confirm the same problem  (I can't check it very soon); then IMSI should be able to also verify it.

Hi Elie,

It did the same for me. Actually it did work but extremely slowly - after a few minutes the first dimension appeared at the bottom, then the second later and eventually the right click Finish, but the ruler did not appear on the screen at all - just the dimension at the bottom.

Thanks for finding and reporting this - I will pass it on to the programmers.

Allan,

I actually had the same experience as you did where it showed the measurement at the bottom and no ruler, but it was so slow and the zoom was not responsive that it made it impractical and could not really tell what I was measuring.

Thank you for passing it to the programmers.
