Export FROM SketchUp for Use BY TFP

I thought I had done this before, but if so, I don't remember how I did it.

I have a drawing of a wall of custom cabinets in SU.  I want to bring it over to TFP and use it as an object.  I thought I could just use the File/Export function and choose 3D Model and specify .3ds as the file extension and all would be well; however there is no .3ds file format option in the free SU version I have (and I can't afford the Pro version).  In fact, the 3D Model option allows only the Google Earth .kmz format as a choice.  I tried entering the file name with the .3ds extension but it didn't save it.

I want to use the file as an object in the catalog so that I can insert it where I want and view it in 3D mode in TFP.  If I export it as a .jpg can I use it as a wall covering in TFP?  Will it retain its ability to change appearance as the perspective of the TFP camera changes?

Other suggestions?

I think if you do a File-Import-Object Wizard, that's what you are looking for.

Um, that is one reason I like hard-copy manuals...

A lot of our US equipment had manuals with an index apparently auto-compiled from the oft-arcane text headings. When electronic 'searchable' manuals appeared, they usually matched the ring-bound for obscurity. Finding anything unusual was often a case of guessing, and hoping the topic's hot-links might lead some-where interesting...

Until we knew *exactly* what we were looking for, the only solution was for me to curl up with the book and read it cover-to-cover...
