Printing to scale in metric

I have TurboFloor Plan 3D Home and Landscape Pro 16 and prepare all my drawings in metric dimensions.  I have previously (a couple of weeks ago) been able to print to a selected metric scale in the print dialogue box.  However when I have tried today, I am only given the option to print to an imperial scale. 

I have checked the Program Settings > Units of Measure which are set to metric.

Is anyone able to shed any light.  I am assuming (and hoping!) I have just accidentally changed a small setting somewhere which is overriding the ability to scale print in metric.

Hi and Welcome to the forum,

You have got me on this one. I cannot seem to replicate it.  Have you changed anything at all?  New Printer? Changed the View Properties? (View / View Properties) Have you done anything different to what you have done in previous projects? Have you tried restarting the program? even rebooting the computer?  Can you get the scale you want by selecting User Defined and type in the scale you want?

Clutching at straws here but I can't think of anything that would have most of the dialog box in metric and just this in Imperial.

Thanks for the quick response.  You are spot on though - I have found through trial and error today that if I select User Defined and set it to, say, 1:25 or 1:50 etc (screen shot attached in case it helps anyone)  it does print to the correct metric scale so in practice my problem now is academic - but puzzling nonetheless.

I haven't consciously changed any of the settings and have re-booted several times.  Next step will be a complete uninstall/reinstall of TFP, probably this weekend.  If that fails I will also uninstall and reinstall my printer and drivers.

I will post back once I have done so and see if this sheds any light!

Hi Alison,

I am glad that worked for you.

Just a thought if you decide to reinstall: If you have customised items in your catalogue and added textures to the Texture folder, then make sure you copy the catalogue and Textures folder elesewhere, so you can restore them in place of the new ones that may be re-installed. I think you do get a prompt on the catalogue but not on the textures.

Hi Allison!
I thin you template have wrong settings!

You have save a template in Metric but not change the printer property that is set as standard to Imperial

If you open a new blank project and change the printer property to Metric and set your scale as user select.
The save your template again so will your problem be fixed.

Thanks.  I have already tried this and there is no metric option - only the options as per my first screen shot.  Any other thoughts?

Hi Allison!
You are correct, there are no metric options but the metric scale 1:100, 1:50 1:25 etc is metric scale
you have to defined your self there is no other option in print properties only for Imperial scaling 1/16", 1/8" etc.

Default settings for the printer is None and Imperial, both for the Imperial and Metric templates.

To change the Metric templates you have to set the Printer options as I have done in the image.

The image of the paper in printer properties only show how many paper it will take for print out the window and that depend on your how you select Print area.

Let me show you the difference between the three different print areas in next 3 images.

My settings is as show in image printerAndViewScalingMetric.png
My terrain is 50 X 50 m I have draw a little house 10X15m in the center of terrain
Definition of print area: Print area = work space = window

As you see in workSpaceDisplay.png and workSpaceZoomWindowDisplay2.png can you display so get a lot of printing as in .....Display1.png, best way to use Dipsplay is to zoom the page to what you will print ,,,,Display2.png

All and Windows work nearly as same use zoom Windows or Zoom to fit

Thanks very much for your detailed response Kajvin. 

I have been printing using the "user defined" setting and all prints to the appropriate metric scale once I have done so, so my "problem" is sorted in that sense.

The only mystery is how/why I was previously able to select a metric scale (vs Imperial) rather than having to enter a User Defined scale....

Perhaps I will never know!
