Is there a quick way to select an element 'hidden' under or inside another one?

Sometimes selecting an object that is below or surrounded by another one, is a bit complicated. A hanging lamp under a member, a basket under a table etc. Sometimes I must move the top element first to access the intended one, or through view filter make the top element hidden.
Is there a fast trick to avoid this and to make the selection of these items easier?

Hi Wim,

Another option is to make the object not selectable instead of not visible.  Tick the little filter icon instead of the  eye icon. If it is selectable then it will be orange. If some things are not likely to be changed again then making them not selectable will allow you to select the object underneath.

They can also be moved to another location.

And don't forget that you can go back and forth between 2D and 3D views . . . making an item more easily selectable in one view with camera movement/position/angle etc. Select the desired item.

And when you switch to the other view, of course, your selection is "lost" but not forgotten.  Doing nothing else except changing/switching between views....when in the new view (where before you could not select the item) use menu/edit/select previous and you will have selected the item OK.
