old FP3D ver. catalog use?

Allen probably best person to answer this, but anyone who knows or has tried etc.  .....

I have several old FP models and I am aware we cannot import an old version equivalent .bld file  (how far back ver. does not work?)

But, CAN I open an old ver. catalog (assuming I saved some 3D objects and textures there-in, not walls but furniture and the like, especially if from .obj or .3ds) in TFP16 and "retrieve" old constructed objects and/or textures for use in ver.16?

How about .bmo or .bmf files?

Hi Doug,

The only thing you could do would be to open the BMF files in FP3D and export the objects as 3DS files but I can't remember for sure if Export was possible. Simarly I can't recall now if Textures were in a separate folder. You could check in the folder where the program was installed but I don't think they were.

TFP took over at V12. There are one or two users here still using FP3D so hopefully one of them may see this and confirm it one way or the other.

How about the old FP3D catalog?   I'm sure I saved as back-up and could find.  Would it open in TFP OK at least to retrieve objects (not walls or windows; more like interior accessories)?

Hi Doug,

Sorry but no. FP3D you may recall used an Access database and you could manipulate the database directly in Microsoft Access. TFP does not - not sure what itis actually but is not openable in Access.
