Catalogue very few items

Hi all,

I recently bought  a download version of TFP 15 but my catalogue has very few items; for instance corrugated panelling does not exist.

How can I get all the catalogue items as in the cd version.

I also have a previous version of TFP on CD and I remember it having more items. How can I import from my old CD without installing both versions?

Hi and welcome to the forum! 

First, there is no reason why you cannot have two or more versions of TurboFLOORPLAN on your computer (if you have room obviously). All will work but not at the same time. If several versions are installed you can run the latest version but open the catalogue of any previous version are any time to use objects from them. Objects you use in a project from an earlier catalogue can then be added to your master one by openong it and using File / Catalogues / Add Element To Catalogue, then clicking the ones you want to add.

If your earlier versions have the File/Catalogues/Export BIM option, then you an export all the objects from the old catalogue and import them onto the new one.

Corrugated Panelling does appear in the Materials List under that name in V 16. I thought that V15 was the same. If not it really does not matter as corrugated sheeting is really only a texture and all the Colorbond sheet colours are there in the V15 Textures folder. If you go to Roofing for example, select a roof, go to the Appearance tab and if Corrugated Panelling section is not there, just select the Roofing section for example, right click on one of the roofing textures and select Add Material. You can now select Texture and browse through all the imagea to Corrugated and you will find them there.

If that is not clear, just ask again.

I have managed to find them without installing the old one, under panelling. Now I would like to define custom dimensions for my corrugated sheet like so:

thickness: 3mm
width: 1000mm
height: 3000mm
cost: £4 each

name is renamed to: Shale Grey
under quantity I find I cannot add the custom dimensions as I would like to know how many of my custom sheets will be used and the total cost once I have used it as my roofing material.
Basically I would like to include the cost of unit items and let TFP generate the total project estimated cost for me. for instance for a tiled roof I would define the size and cost of 1 tile and let TFP do the number crunching for me such as number of tiles required and total cost estimate.

I have a suspicion that you have run into two limitations:  (1)  My knowledge of materials and quantities in the program and (2) Limitations in the capability of TFP in this area.

Essentially TFP is for visualisation purposes and it does this well. It can produce very detailed plans and elevations but is not set up to easily produce construction drawings. It can also do basic quantities etc but is not really customisable. The roof surface appears to be limited to the total area of the roof base in square ft or metres. To get the customisation you would like, would need the parent program Envisioneer (Construction Suite) but it is about 25 times the price so may not be a viable option.

Unless someone else is more familiar with this part of the program than me, I suspect that, for the roof surface, you may have to use a calculator..
