Exporting 3d TurboFloorplan / ProArchitect model for viewing in Adobe.

Hi All,
  I am trying to find a method to export a 3d model so it can be viewed in Adobe Acrobat. Basically it needs to be in a *.u3d format. I have exported the model as a *.dwg format and then in another package converted that into a *.u3d format. I can view it in a Adobe as a 3d model but I lose all the materials, finishes and colours. The reason for trying to find a solution is that many people have Adobe on their computer and that allows you to do walk throughs, orbit etc.  Most clients do not want to be bothered downloading another software package (eg say the Envisioneer viewer) even if they are free just to view their 3d model. There are also some 3d IPAD apps that are trying to allow 3d viewing of adobe supported models (*.u3d) which is ideal if you are talking to a client rather than carrying a laptop around or have a desktop PC.

Hi Shayne,

Have you tried exporting as 3D DXF or 3DS. These should take the textures but 3DS is the more reliable of the two as far as the texture is concerned when reimported to TFP or ProArchitect. However, what happens when converted to another format I don't know. Worth a.try maybe.

Hi Allan,
  I will give the 3DS option a go. I would think that dxf would drop / explode the data
attributes more so than a *.dwg due to its basic generic format.
