Floors

I've been ignoring this problem while I design around it for some time now, hoping to read an answer in the forums or dig it out of the tool boxes; I can not find a way to change a floor to a concrete slab.

Auto floor seems to be floor covering, carpet or whatever. If I build a basement, my only option seems to be wood walls and floor. I can find see footings when I switch to foundation [although I don't see a way to adjust the size of them] or build piers. I have to be missing something pretty obvious here but I'm stumped.

I am not sure what are you showing in the images, but yes, there are several points to be considered.

There is a distinction between the finishing material and the structure, framing, etc. For example, if you use the Floor tool (Floor tab) you will be creating a "Floor", but if we consider the base of the interior of the house, we are talking about a "Slab"
To determine the building materials of a wall, floor, etc. just right click on the element => Framing Properties => define the desired materials, insulation, etc. These elements are defined individually.
Now, if you click on the on the exterior part of the exterior walls, you will see a yellow band in the perimeter => in the right bar you will be able to define the setting for the slab, footers, etc

TFP V17, as any program, has a learning curve. The best way to learn the program, IMO, is practice + practice + practice => Read and follow the manual (this is important), see the videos, or check my e-books if you wish => try to create elements not related with your project, so you will become familiar with the commands and how to develop the different components.

Thank you Patricia. I do read this stuff over and over but sometimes a basic concept slides on by. This was one of them. Your ebooks look interesting. I'll work my way through them.
