Where is Drop Face

Hi. I'm a new user of TFP, running v. 17. Based on what I've read, the Drop Face control should do what I need; but I can't find it. The threads that refer to this control seem to reference earlier versions of TFP. Does the control still exist? Also, that Ceiling/Floor button doesn't seem to work either.

John,

As you probably know, TFP V17 is different from the V16 and older programs. V17 is based on different principles, codes, etc. Therefore, the commands aren't the same.
Try to detail your problem as specifically as possible, so we can understand the issue. Let us know exactly what you want to do, what you tried, etc.

Ceiling / Floor button: they moved the function and forgot the button 
Where to find the ceiling and floor commands:  in order to show / hide these elements, click inside each room => Right pane => select the "show ceiling" and / or "show floor" options, as necessary. Check the image attached

I'm a new user to TFP, although I have prior experience with Rhino 5 and the Adobe Creative Suites.

The particular issue: I'm designing a three story house; If I set the wall elevations and heights so that the framing appears correct (the sole plate and the headers are where they should be) I get a 12" gap where the floor joists should go. This, I fill with a manually defined floor and set the appropriate thickness.

With this approach, the framing all appears to be correct, but the shaded preview does not extend the paint color of the exterior walls to cover the floor joists. I had read in some other threads that the Drop Face control would create this illusion, but this control appears to have been eliminated in v 17.

What is the recommended procedure for performing this operation?

Hi John,

You're welcome! 

Again, it is important to remark that all the elements mentioned in the upper part of the Forum, related with versions 12 to 16 belong to a very different program, with different commands and different conception. You won't find the previous commands in TFP V17.
As you have TFP V17, the best option is learning these new commands

OK, I see that several concepts are mixed so let's analyze the issues.
I will write 3 questions and answers so you will understand the procedure

1 - Q: How do I show the floor in a slab, in order to apply a texture? => as stated in my previous post => Floor / ceilings in textured live view => in order to visualize these elements, click inside each room => Right pane => select the "show ceiling" and / or "show floor" options, as necessary. Check the image attached in my previous post

2 - Q: After I set the floor and ceiling as described in the item 1, how do I set the joists of this floor? => Please, follow the description with the image "Slab Framing" (attached) => click on the exterior part of the exterior walls (pointed with a black arrow in the image) => On the right bar => click on the Slab Framing button (outlined in green in the image) => the Framing menu will open (outlined in red in the image)=> select the desired settings, material, etc. If you select these options, you don't need to add joists manually.
Alternatively, you can uncheck the Frame Floor Joist option to completely remove the joists
If you use the Manual Floor Tool, this floor will include joist that will be in addition of the "Slab Framing" joists

3 - Q: I need an additional joist with a different angle, how to add this joist? If you need to add additional joists or if you wish to develop the joists manually, you can use the Joist tool in the framing tab

Now, if you follow the above procedure, the walls will cover the slab automatically. So, if this doesn't happen, check if the Default ceiling height, the walls' height and the framing elevation are the same. In special, confirm the elevation of all the walls and floors.

Thank you Patricia, that did the trick. I was confused by the use of the term "slab height" when referring to the second story of a structure, so I hadn't set any thickness; consequently, the slab framing button was greyed out. All fixed now.
