Print to scale and using title blocks.

My project is set to view at 48 = 1/4"=1'

I selected a D size which is 3' x 2' sheet and print the file to PDF and tell it to print to scale.

When I take the file to the local blueprint house and they print it for me on a "D" size paper it is not to scale if you measure it.

What am I doing wrong?

BTW - this is the same place that produce almost all of the construction prints and they seem to be fine.

Question #2 - title blocks.

When I try to add a "D" title block it shows as a 3' x 2' size and I insert it into the page.  It is the size of a postage stamp.

If I resize the block to make it wide enough to contain my floor plan it is over 100' wide to contain my floor plan.
This obviously will not fit on my "D" paper ... what am I doing wrong ?

Hi Rex,

I opened your model, inserted the ArchD Title Block, printed to PDF and sent the PDF to my printer. When I check the measurements it seems to be perfect to me. I cant attach a copy as it is over 4MB but you can see the Title Block in the screen shot of the print dialog.

I think I have the possible reason why you had the two problems you had.

1.  When you print to PDF, the PDF properties must be set to 300dpi (dots per inch). Your PDF printer may default to 600dpi. Any dpi over 300 will produce incorrect scale.

2.  When you import the title block you must set the scale to match your model (1:48). Did you do that?  If you set it at 3 ' x 2' then that is the size it will be on your model - the size of a small coffee table! If you enter 48 in the scale box, it will expand to just beyond the size of your model and enclose it perfectly as on the attached PDF.

To print choose the Window option (see image) and then click Window. You will be taken to the model. click only just outside the upper left corner of the title block and just below the lower right corner. This in effect draws a box around what you want to print. If you draw this box too far out from the Title Block it will be too big and will produce a print on multiple 3'x2' pages.

I hope this solves your problems.

The house is looking good by the way!!!!

Great - perfect as usual Allan.

My problem was not setting the scale to 48 and I also have my dpi at 600.

Thanks much
