I found out that FloorPlan 3D needs full control over it's folder in %PROGRAMFILES% to work.
If i dont give full control over that folder, it crash when opening. error message:
AppName: fp3d6.exe    AppVer: 6.0.219.0    ModName: taipanmain.dll
ModVer: 6.0.219.0    Offset: 000282f3

The problem i am facing now is we are a school and students don't have admin rights on their PC.
I know I could give the Users group full access over that folder, but i am sure someday someone will find out he can write on this folder and after that... im screw.

Any workaround ?

Hi,

FloorPlan will run will a Limited Account, you don't need to be Administrator.

It will crash if you have made all Folders, Sub-folders and Files Read Only. However if you just remove Read-only from the FlrPlan.mdb in the DataBase sub-folder, it should then run.

(P.s. I have tested this v7 as I don't have v6 - I have only tested start-up; if it crashes at a later stage, you will need to do your own investigation to see if any other files should not be read-only. If you want to save drawings in the Documents folder, that cannot obviously not be read-only.)

(This Forum is actually for the Latest v12 TurboFloorPlan only - the Forum for all previous Versions is at FloorPlan User Forums - but unfortunately IMSI still have not updated the Links - despite several reminders!)

Steve,

I have tried several 'direct' reminders re the FloorPlan forum following each of your requests - also to no avail (obviously).
