Hi, I am just figuring out the new FP.  ???

I have topographical plans of my section in a .dwg file with a .shx aux file (I understand this is connected with elevations)
How do I import this into TCFP12 to profile my terrain?

And, once the hill is modeled, do we cut in the same way as FP11 or can I make a building and add the landscape later?

cheers, Alan.

Alan,

This came up just recently so do a Search on it. You can import a DXF, SKP and 3DS (File menu) and I vaguely seem to recall someone coming up with a way to import a DWF (via Sketch-Up was it?).  I think Doug had a way also for replicating the the Node settings from FP.

The problem would be cutting into the imported terrain if you need to. TFP will automatically do that with its own terrain.

What I remeber doing was to export a dxf file of a terrain (from nodes) in FP11, then import that file into TFP12 as an object.

So, if you have a .dwg file and can convert it to something that TFP12 can import as an object, you are all set...tho watch for scale settings and you will likely need to add a texture to the imported file as textures rarely import along with the 3D object file.

I have import dwg files to the catalog simply only by change dwg to dxf maybe not the correct way to do it but it works, remember this is a bayby version of Envisioneer and that program import dwg so it is maybe therefor it work. Maybe that will work on terrain also. 8)
