download vs boxed DVD - what's missing?

I've seen some hints at this, but not very specific.

- We know the box has a printed manual, but at least the download still has the PDF - no loss

- have seen reference to a "Quickstart" guide or something in the DVD

- are there more catalogs, symbols, etc on DVD?  how do I get mine?

- how about tutorials?  what is the 'training video' referenced elsewhere?

There are some pretty obvious gaps on the basics in the manual and help files, so I have to conclude I'm missing something. At least I sure hope so!

what am I missing (that I thought I paid for) and how do I get my copies?  (except the manual)

The post right at the top of this forum (Additional Catalogs) should answer your questions re the additional symbols.  There are 4 demo videos on the IMSIDesign and Cadcourse websites which have been referred to a number of times.  Also Cadcourse produce excellent training videos and instruction manuals for many varieties of CAD software including TFP - that is their business, as the name implies and naturally they charge for those.  They do not come with the boxed version of TFP.  I do not know anyting about the QuickStart Guide as I only have the download version.

thanks, Allan - I did see the note on the catalogs and will check it out.

From page 2 of the User Guide:
QuoteNot sure how to get started? We highly recommend going
through the Quick Start Guide attached to the inside cover of
the DVD case. It contains a tutorial and valuable information
that will get you up and running very quickly.

Anybody know how to get a copy?

You can also get to the User Guide from the menu\help....in addition to the menu\help\program help

click on menu\help\users guide  which you can use directly and it opens to page 1 with a link to open the user guide as a .pdf  (you can then save a copy of the open .pdf file to open alone (TFP12 not running) to read alone as you wish).

I recently bought Turbofloorplan Home & Landscape Pro (boxed edition) and it did not come with the QuickStart guide. I tried looking in the .cabs but its not there. Does anyone know where I can get a .pdf copy ?

Thanks in advance.

Allan Chesney

Hi Chris (I presume), Welcome to the Forum.

Actually I have never seen the QuickStart Guide but did a Windows Search on my PC and it is there - under Program Files/TurboFLOOPLAN etc.  Unfortunately it is just over the Forum's 4MB limit or I could post it for you.  I think you will find it has been installed automatically but if not, let me know your email addeess and I can send it to you.

I didn't think of trying to reduce the file size.  I only have the free 'PDF Creator' but even it reduced it to half the size.  I assume you may have some more elaborate software to get it dow to 850K. Much more reasonable!
