I have a raked skillion roof and I do not wish to have the eaves lined (soffit).

If someone could advise me as to how I remove the soffit feature, I would be very grateful.

Thank you in advance

Hi Rob,

Welcome to the Forum.

I have not found a way to remove the sofit as such but you could make it transparent by changing a texture to transparent.  Another option is to set the eaves to just 1mm (or fraction of an inch) and extend the roof itself by the distance of the eaves.  To get the effect of the eaves coming lower than the top of the wall you may have to lower the roof.  If you want the rafters to show you will have to turn the framing on in the View Filter but this can also show through the top of the roof surface and the frame edge comes through the facia. I think I have a workaround on that too, but I have not tried it yet.

I am assuming you know how to do those things but if you don't know just ask again.

Thanks Allan.

I have tried your suggestions.  They all work, although the idea of actually duilding a structure with 'glass' eaves lining is a bit worrisome!

Hi Rob,

Glass eaves do sound a little fragile! Actually I did not mean  to use glass but to create a new texture that you make transparent and name it that if you want. You may find setting it to glass will create reflections when you render the image although it will look OK in 3D view.

If you right click on one of the glass materials and select Add, you can modify the Rendering Effects by ticking Display Settings Details and set transparency to 100% and Specular to 0%. That will remove the reflections when you render an image later.
