How to select a wall or object

Greetings

I'm just trying out TFP v14 and for some reason I can't seem to select a wall I've created. Even if I open up one of the samples I can't seem to select any of the walls or objects. Single clicking or double clicking does nothing! I can create walls, door, windows, but once they are set I can't select them to change them. All this in the standard 2D view.
I'm new to TFP although used the Punch software many years ago, so probably doing something wrong or haven't ticked an option.

Anyway if someone has any ideas on what might be wrong it would be appreciated.

Cheers

Hi Peter,

Welcome to the Forum.

You should be able to select objects in 2D as long as you are on the same Location on which they were inserted.  In other words objects on the Ground floor can be selected only while you are on the ground floor, Second floor objects while you are on the Second floor and so on, although in 3D view you should be able to select any object.

They can be locked so that you cannot select them, but they would not be set that way by default and you would have to take specific action to prevent them being selected, so that would not be the problem.

If you are on the correct location (dropdown list at the upper left of the main window) and still cannot select, I would try turning off Hardware Acceleration (Settings/Program Settings/Graphics). This sometimes causes display problems on some PCs.  Unfortunately with it off moving around the model may be a bit slower or more jerky but it is not much use if can't select things. Give that a go.

Hi Allan

Thanks for that. I think I have found the problem and it is due to me using Windows 7. I loaded it up on Windows XP and all seems to be ok. Odd but one of the few programs that doesn't work properly on 7.
