AutoSave problem

I have AutoSave set to operate at 20 minute intervals and the programme duly shows this happening. A list of successive autosaves appears in the Projects folder, but when I try to use any of these after a crash, all I get is a blank screen. Am I missing some setting or what can be the cause?

To be honest I have never had to resort to an autosave file so I tested it out in V12 and V14 and did not have any problems with it.

I did find one autosave file that was blank but it could have been blank originally as it was an old unnamed one, so I can't be sure. TFP will start autosaving before you name it and will just be called autosave_1 etc. Once you save the file it will use your name.

All the ones I specifically tested were fine.  Are you sure that you are actually trying to open your latest project?

When I open TBF I go to my data folder and open the one and only project I am working on so I didn't think that your query about whether I was autosaving the right file was relevant. However, when I shut down, the programme always asks first if I want to save something called Project 1 and only then asks if I want to save the programme I am using. I had always assumed that when I saw the AutoSave box appearing that it was saving my programme but now I am beginning to wonder. The next question therefore is, can I somehow get rid of Project 1 and why doesn't AutoSave act on the programme showing on screen. Presumably Project 1 is somewhere in the background.

Project 1 is the default blank project, that will always be there unless you close it as soon as you start TFP (otherwise it is using memory).

The autosave that is happening should be the file you are working on, as named by you. It should save a bkp (backup) file also. If you have not named it will be called autosave.
