P.S. I spoke to many people  from IMSI-TCF about this problem I not sure it was David, Chris or Dough that mention that they prefere going through the Advance render rather than Basic  :-\
My screen saver  power save interrupted the rendering progress after 4 hrs. I went to sleep at 5:30 am ET woke at 9:45 am and noticed the screen at sleep tried to  wake it and The program was not responding and had to be force quit . I set it to never sleep and will try again later. ::)

So I was curious and did a small test; TFP16 vs. Carrara Studio 8 3D

Selected a "palm tree" model .3ds  approx 617K polygons, 23.7 MB file

results:

TFP
basic render: 12 seconds  (render looked just fine with shadows thru "leaves" on ground)
adv render: TFP stopped after 10 minutes of no response (started loading poly's but stopped after 10 sec., no error msg)

C8
raytrace render: 2 seconds
full radiosity render: 28 sec.

Conclusion, TFP not at all capable of handling large poly .3ds files; especially for adv. renders.  Not only was render slow or non-responsive, screen display (HA "on") was dead slow; while C8 acted in real time response to moving and zooming.

All work done on same PC with all same things running (IE9 and Outlook as well as several small background little apps).
I watched the task manager resource manager and TFP does not know how to use 8 cores/thread (i7 4 core); staying well below avg CPU use of 20% each. And TFP does not utilize video card to much advantage (I have a Radeon 6780 1 GB card).

But then TFP s/w cost to purchase is very reasonable/lower...but is also specific to architecture/landscape.

 ;) Thank you Allan,
The lat Time I tried  rendering There was one great sign! after deleting just the roof tile and reducing the size of the lake, and terrain I didn't get the file error  again and it looked promising but for the length it was taken . if the screen had not shut down  about 3:00 hrs thru the render process   I believe it would  I would have a rendering.

I set the screen saver to never shut, did memory clean up I'm waiting for PC Full scan to finish! I'm going to try again and then I will also do a test with the 3ds object and  3ds trees  as you did to see what are the result. :)
Thank you
God Bless

Thank you Doug, I will do similar test using my imported .3ds Object I created w/ TCP V19 & .3ds trees from X Frog plants using TFPH&L v16 and see what hapens.  ;)

 :) Great News  ;D
Finally I got my first renderings  ;)
Thanks to Allan's dedication , Knowledge and guidance, I'm able to finally get closer to complete my project.
Thank you Doug, Basic rendering was the way to go! ;) Also my screen saver was running  in energy savings and by disabling it and setting it to performance I believe was part of the solution. The render ton between 5 - 10 min to figure the shadows and in no time started to render and It was done  ;D

There was no problem with the imported 3ds file roof tile, and  the store signs I created with TC pro V19, amazingly when I created the signs I used the text tool and by exploding it i was able to make them 3d and by using the plastic material and inserting lights when I saved then as 3ds files they actually light up in TFP H&L PRO V16 render :o

After few tests and adjusting the global settings this are the latest renderings I accomplish

Thanks

Hi Robert,

So good to hear that you got it working and it is looking good.  ;)
Since you were able to get the signs illuminated it might be interesting to see it with the daylight off. Basic is not ideal in this situation but worth a try first before trying Advanced again 'in the dark'.

Thanks Allan,
Today I been trying to render a version of this project with the entire building and 2/3 in the raytrace process  I get an erroe message: Primative error I select ok a few times and the rendering process bar shows trying to keep processing but in the view window is like the1- sample image below.I waited 10 min, and I close the rendering and then I try again  in level 1-render low 640 x 480 or 800 x600 but same result
The 2- Sample today I didn't like the Palm tree in the image so I replaced it with another ,saved  file with new name and every render after that I get the same error and same bad result as shown in 1st sample image. ???

Hi Robert,

I have selected some photoboard trees that I have taken myself for you to try. They are im the BIM file attached and the image shows what they look like.

Go to File / Catalogues / Import BIM and Transfer them to your catalogue and see how they look. They may give the better look that you are aiming for. It may say they were created in a later version but should still import - hopefully.

The error could still indicate a corruption shomewhere if it has appeared when you have tried to render "with the whole building". What did you turn on? It raises the question whether there is still something there that is causing the problem.

Thanks again Allan you never fail me.

I've been rendering all day and night yesterday.  ::)

I figured out why I was getting the Primative error. Soon I will post few progress sample. I been rendering up to level-4 - size 800 x 600,  I'm waiting to have all the best result settings to proceed to Level- 5 render in 800 X 600, I been having problems with size 1024 X 768.

I'm up to test render #32,  is taken me 9-test of "Day" renders to arrive at the best Global setting for best result and # 23 test's to have the best "Night" render view result .

"Night" has been difficult and time consuming  adjusting interior  and exterior lights settings to arrive at the best looking night results. ::)
Advance was not successful, I will get the render error but Basic has always render with no errors.

Thanks I downloaded the photoboard trees and will give it a try. The software  I have, Xfrog  has the trees in 3D or image  I didn't know if the image  trees will work in TFP.  I imported a png file image of the store sign using  import photoboard  but the transparency would turn to gray image in the project 3d view  I was not able to do a render test so I stopped importing png file.

Hi Robert,

Looks like you are gradually getting there! Are you sill having problems with Advanced? You will find, if you can get it to work, that the night renders will be mush more realistic than the Basic ones.

I did try using the Advance settings to render the Night scene and I got the  same error we discussed at the start of this forum.

One great benefit from having this problems is the knowledge and experience I'm acquiring. Thank you for your help, I've learned a lot from this experience and Loving this program even more.

Yesterday I change the Camera's location and angles . This created New error issues, but for the first time TFP suggested to change the Sun or camera's position, there was a problem figuring the geometric and angles.
I spend all day changing the Sun & Camera angles, locations, quite an experience, finally at about 2:30 AM it started to render without errors but it took over an hour to be Done. This morning I proceede to render  Night Time version and after an over one & a half hour it was Done with no errors. ;D

Next I plan to replace the Palm trees with the desire Palms I originally wanted as photoboard trees like you suggested, Thanks to your suggestion I'm very optimistic that it will get me the quality I was expecting and conclude this part of the project so I can start working on the Business store interior design of this project.

Bellow are the latest Day and Night render with the new camera angle

Hi Robert,

I am a bit concerned that you still have a corruption there somewhere and wondered whether you would like me to have a look at it for you? If you start working on the inside you may run into further issues. How big is the file now? It would be too big to post here but you could email it to me if our emails will take the size.
