My first attempt to get a transparent background for a photoboard simply resulted in the magenta background showing in 3D view.
Where have I gone wrong?

Hi there,

Can you clarify your version number?
Are you still using V16 or are you using V2015?

Different versions = Different concepts, transparency, settings, etc.

Hi there,

No problem.
The only issue is the fact that you posted your question in the V17 & 2015 Forum.

I am asking the Moderator to move this post.

Hi. (I have moved the topic - obviously!)

The only logical explanation for this is that you do not have a true Magenta. This will only work if you have a true RGB 255, 0, 255 (Red as 255, Green as 0 and Blue as 255), over the whole transparency area. This means it must be a BMP  image not JPG, as JPG images will blend the colour at the edges resulting in a pink fringe areount the transparent part.
Similarly, if the colour itself varies by just 1 point (eg 255, 0, 254) it will be pink  not transparent! Close will not work, it must be true Magenta (RGB 255, 0,255).

Hi, both,
Sorry for posting in the wrong forum - a misplaced click!

Thanks, too, Allan for sorting out my problem (yet again). I had used .jpg, changing to .bmp did the trick
