QuickStart dimensions don't seem to be working properly

I've purchased the "TurboFloorPlan: Training & Tutorials" manual.  In the section "How to Start a New Project" the QuickStart option is introduced and a floor plan resulting from its use is show - picture 1 attached.  I used QuickStart to produce the same floor plan - picture 2 attached - that pretty much looks exactly the same as the one in the manual.  The problem, though, is that if you look at the dimensions of the Dining room you'll notice that the second dimension of that room is 12' - 8", not the 13' required to make the sum of the lengths of the Kitchen and Dining room add up to the length of the Living room.  If I make that dimension the full 13' that it really should be I get a distinct exterior corner in the floor plan - picture 3 - that shouldn't be there.

Thanks for the reply.  I must admit I hadn't noticed the dimensions in the lower left corner when a room is selected.

It looks to me like the version I'm using, (TurboFloorPlan Home & Landscape Pro 2015), generates the "room" dimensions - the ones that show up inside the rooms - from interior face to interior face while the dimensions in the lower left hand corner are from the middle of the walls making up the rooms.  I'm not quite sure how the other version does its thing.  One guess is that for rooms with no interior wall the dimension is exterior face to exterior face while for rooms with an interior wall the dimension is exterior face to middle of interior wall.  There's probably other ways, too.

I just found it confusing and figured I must have been doing something wrong.

Yep, exactly.

When you select just the room, the room label shows the interior dims and the status bar show the dims of the entire element, with walls. When you attach a room with other rooms, the walls are counted just once.
