More testing...getting better,,,more confusion  (HA off all the time)

So with the laptop knowledge I started with the same file and deleted the shower....no change with it in or out

With file still back to last setup...I turned the sun on and finally I got a full 300/300 render.....but it was 4x longer than before....now at about 9 minutes for 640x480 q=2

I started with sun on originally but since lights would wash out the scene...I turned sun of, set all lights and was able to make good renders, EXCEPT now the room is too dark as lights are set low from when earlier they would make the room totally washed out like Allan used to get a lot....but since adding spotlights (and after deleting the spotlights under test).....no sun = no full render....sun on =OK but slow and dark

With/without roof (this is a one floor house, with ONLY the bathroom with objects), terrain visible or not, etc made no difference.  When it used to render full with no sun the render time was about 2 minutes for 1024x768 q=3

So I deleted the terrain (one slope), removed the cutout around first floor, changed the only window from glass to color=white with no transparency, and raised terrain to floor level -- it now leaks thru the wood floor.... and now render with sun 640x480 q=2 is about 3 minutes

Very very frustrating to setup and continue to get repeatable renders...no "crashes", but with no sun the radiosity renders are always cut short and program jumps to raytrace before radiosity is done.

Based on all the problems to date I still conclude there are some real bugs in the render solutions...but never obvious why or what to do and a "fix" now can mean a problem later....that makes rendering very unreliable....and it is NOT all due to video cards as the same problem repeatable on different PCs with different video cards and with HA on or off.

Call me a frustrated user.

Wow the saga continues

I hope not everyone else has these problems....or if they do then we know its a bug uncovered

Here is latest finding.....playing with more renders and output render size....out of frustration with small render sizes (I made a separate post)...I just set render back to the default "current view size" which is approx. 430x400 (it varies a few pixels on its own too)

NOW....my renders with no sun render just fine as before...radiosity q 135/500   1000/1000  1500/1500 about 25/300  8/200 and render speed is about 2 to 4 minutes

So the bug may be in render size setting????? and nothing to do with the objects?  But why does low quality not finish its own radiosity setting????

I'll try some testing.....anyone else have render failures coincident with render output image size?  640x480 = bad,   but I have done 1024x768 OK before.
