Hi Glenn,

Welcome to the forum.

V16 will not be strange to anyone who has used previous versions - all the usual features are there and a few new ones too (eg Tapered Columns, splitting, joining and aligning dimensions, adjustable roof framing, Stetchup 8 campatibility etc and many improvments to how some of the tools work). As Jack aluded to, the print scale option changes will be appreciated, as it means you can set the model view scale so that the dimensions are as large as you want but they will still print the right size, as the scale can be set separately. Good for those of us with poor eyesight!!.

You will find a list of the new features and updates here: http://imsidesign.com/Products/TurboFLOORPLAN/TurboFloorPlan3DProv16/NewFeatures/tabid/1652/Default.aspx (http://imsidesign.com/Products/TurboFLOORPLAN/TurboFloorPlan3DProv16/NewFeatures/tabid/1652/Default.aspx).

Video tutorials are also available and they include the V16 changes: http://imsidesign.com/Products/TurboFloorPlan/TurboFloorPlanTraining/tabid/1666/Default.aspx (http://imsidesign.com/Products/TurboFloorPlan/TurboFloorPlanTraining/tabid/1666/Default.aspx)

Hi Allan! I have install V16 now and it work without any problem, only a little alert if you use trial and will open a old drawing from V 15 it will convert the file so use Convert as Copy. One tip ad tfp16 or v16 in the end of the file name the you save it so can you use same name as the file for tfp 15.

I test to render a old drawing that crash in TFP 15 maybe take 1 hour or so, I use Radiosity 3 in this test 500 step.  I will come back with the result later.

I'm little disappointed that the not used PNG instead of BMB so you get a nice transparency then you import images to the billboard.

The work out great no crash I ad the image below not a good one but as I say before TFP 15 crash the I try the same angle.

Hi Robert,

As far asI know there have not been any changes in  the rendering side of things, so I am surprised that the model will render now if it didn't before. There have been changes in the roof so maybe something here was affecting the V15 render.

Title: Re: New V16 / Test V15 vs V16 and export to pdf via dxf 2D

Hi This test have I done with help of the House Builder tool, 2 floor crawl space ground floor 900 over terrain.

After that have I made a section of the house and export it to 2D dxf then have I open the dxf-file in Acrobat Pro the I have measuring the hight by use built-in tool in Acrobat Pro

All work very well, but that have I expected.

Hi Robert,

The images are so large it is a bit difficult to compare them but I could not see any difference between the two images - is there supposed to be a difference?

Using Acrobat is a different way to do vertical measurements and seems to work fine.
I presume you know that when you export the 2D DXF you can import it back into TFP again and do the measurements there? You need to set the DXF so it is 'unselectable', otherwise you keep accidentally selecting it, but then you can add anything, lines, circles, text, and any dimensions you want, just as you would on the plan. The dimensions still measure automatically. It can then be printed or sent to a PDF. If you are using it just to take some vertical measurement then just insert it on another location to do the measurements.

Hi Allan! Yes the are large it is 2 screens on same screen dump, the only different is measuring menu. Tx for the tip of reimport dxf as 2 d to tfp I have never test it that way only as 3d

Hi Robert,

I assume you mean the Annotation menubar - Yes V16 is different - it has the new dimensioning tools to split a dimension, join two into one, align them etc. Works well!

Hi All,

I noticed that the cabinet countertop properties now work when just wanting the counter with no cabinet.  In V15 it seemed to ignore your dimensions and give you some kind of default size.

I finally got an upgrade price and link to IMSI site via email.  Site now lists an upgrade price.

As Doug mentioned upgrade priciing is now avaialble (about 50% off for existing owners of V15) and an email campaign to existing owners and those who download the trail version, has begun. A similar email will go to existing owners of the deluxe version shortly.  The email will give you a link to a page on the website showing the special pricing.  If you go direct to the website it will only show normal pricing, so look out for the email and check that it has not gone directly into a Spam Folder on your PC.

If you have not received an email yet, download the trail and that should trigger it (http://activate.imsisoft.com/gennedfreetrial.aspx?productpage=TFP_Pro_16 (http://activate.imsisoft.com/gennedfreetrial.aspx?productpage=TFP_Pro_16)).

You can also upgrade over the phone. If you are in the United States call 1-800-833-8082 or +1-415-483-8000 outside the US.  You will need proof of prior ownership, like your existing Serial Number and Activation Key to get upgrade pricing.

I ordered my TFP16 (physical delivery) and got email noting item is delayed....apparently lack of supply (US Digital River Co.)

Since I'm in no desperate need, this seems OK for now.

I take a positive attitude....hope it is caused by high sales volume/unanticipated large demand.

I don't understand why they are making it so difficult to get an upgrade??? I used to be able to go to the website and click on upgrade and order it. Before I had the 800 number I emailed sales and they replied back that I would need to send them my phone number and a time when they can contact me. I think it is a little bizarre the way they are handling this. I haven't decided whether to go through the way they are handling things or not. I can wait to upgrade to v16, so maybe I will wait until they do it right.

I don't think there is anything really different in the way it is being done. The email campaign is under way so you should get one shortly, which will give you the link to the website showing the upgrade edition.  This is exactly what happened before, for me anyway. If you went straight to the website, you would just see the full price version that everyone sees but if you followed the link in the email you saw a different page showing the discount and the public did not see this version of the site.

As I understand it, if you download the Trial version now, it will trigger the email almost straight away. You may want to make sure of that first though before you started something important in V16 becasue V15 would not open it of course.

I down loaded the trial on Tuesday but haven't heard a thing yet. I hope I don't have to load the trial to get a response because I have had trials mess my computer up (not specifically TFP). I have had TFP since Floorplan 7 and have never gotten anything from IMSI about upgrades. I usually just wait until I hear a new version is out and then go to the store and get the upgrade. I can wait for the new version it is just that I think their email campaign as the only way to upgrade is strange. It is the first time I have ever heard of doing it that way.

Hi Robert,

You do not need to worry about it beimg a Trial - it is the full version and no different to what is on the CD except that it times out. All I have ever used, from V3. has been the downloaded trial. When you make the payment you simply activate the program with the code provided.

Be sure to check your email trash bin or other location in case IMSI incoming email is listed/considered a possible virus....and set your email program to list IMSI as OK to receive....the "white list".

I have s/w from probably 40 companies over the years and perhaps only half of them keep me informed well and make it easy to upgrade.

I agree, companies seem to miss big opportunities for sales by ignoring their customers instead of managing and acting as if they cared.  And it does not seem to matter if company is big or small.  You would think large sales would be covered by large companies...some do, some do not.

And yet I know and buy stuff from one or two person companies...and they respond personally and fast to hundreds or thousands of customers. I guess some people have better business sense than others.

I don't recall any limitations on the email sent to me....perhaps I can forward it to you?  But also got another email that a special price for August "sale" is a reduced price...but not as good a sale as an upgrade.  Don't remember them asking for a ser.no. to prove I have an older version but maybe they check against their database???

When TFP V16 was released I was enjoying my vacation  8)
I am a TurboCad user and a TFP user, however, I receive dozens of emails and letters (snail mail) from Imsi regarding all the Turbocad upgrades and offers, but I never received an email related with TFP upgrades or offers. This time it was not different, I didn't receive any email regarding TFP V16

In the past, I think that the upgrade option was in the website, and this is how I got my V14 and V15 versions (I was a V12 user)
So, this time, as I didn't see the upgrade price in the website and I didn't receive the email, I just picked the phone and called the sales dept --> they gave me 2 options --> buy by phone or by internet --> I chose by email --> 2 minutes later the email was in my inbox and it took 5 minutes to complete the purchase
I bought the download version, so the download link and SN were in the receipt, as well as in the confirmation email. Download was fast and instalation just took few minutes

So my suggestion is: call them (1-800-833-8082 ) explain the situation and purchase the upgrade by phone

Funny thing is that this week, checking the emails of my family's email address, I found the email with the TFP upgrade offer  ::)  :D

Good luck,

Pat

Happy to report product was delivered to me today (faster than anticipated), just installed and it seems to run OK for simple stuff.

Now off to reading, playing with new stuff, and viewing the Jack Zimmer CD.  Jack has always had lots of good info for users.

Good to see IMSI has email and link to update info.  IMSI has always been a responsible company with TFP.

I have been an IMSI customer from long, long before there was a TurboFloorplan and I don't believe I have ever gotten a notification from IMSI that an upgrade was available, even though I always order though their website and even though I do get other notofications from them. I assumed updates simply didn't exist. I usually waited for a sale, but now I understand I have been paying too much all these years for "upgrades", so that they actually owe me a free version.

I agree with other posters that upgrading should simply be an option on the purchase page. Every other software company I deal with provides that possibility. You usually just give your serial number. Why is that so hard?

Why not follow the suggestion made by Pat (Datacraft) above and give them a call on the number he provided. They may be sympathetic and make the call worth it, or send an email to the TFP Product Manager (Dave Taylor) (see this post http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,1958.0.html (http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,1958.0.html)) or [email protected] who also may be able to help.

Just wanted to add a couple of comments. I still have never heard from IMSI about an upgrade to TFP v16. There is still no option that I can find to upgrade on their website. I have never had to call them about a upgrade. I have always gone through the website. If it wasn't for this forum I would never know that there  was a v16 and that is sad. Basically they are saying if I find out there is an upgrade and I want it bad enough, I have to call them to get it . Maybe there is something wrong with my thinking, but  it is unprofessional. I used Punch! software for years and everytime there was an upgrade they would bug me with advertising even after I upgraded. By the way, I think their support is better too. I don't even know if I want to mess with an upgrade now.

I have a suspicion that something may have gone amiss with the email system for V16, as I have not had a notification about it either.  I know IMSI still have my email address, as I received one today advertising TFP Instant Architect, so there may have been a glitch at the time V16 was released.

I will raise it with them as it seems a bit odd.

May be more than just v16.  They told me on the phone a couple of weeks ago that they would send email copies of the new activation codes that I had to get for FP 10 & TC9.5.  Never received.  When I activated TFP15.1 a couple of days ago, I told the guy on the phone about it and he said the email was probably entered wrong.  Could be, but those were 2 separate phone calls & I think 2 different operators.  Anyhow, I got the TFP15.1 activation, but the guy was not at all interested in getting my email address.  And I've never gotten anything about my expired v16 trial.  Expected at least a "ready to buy?" type email.  Weird.

Just a thought, but have you checked your junk email folder?  Maybe it has been detected as 'spam' and gone in there. Also maybe check your internet service provider, as mine has a 'spam' removal service also (thankfully), but sometimes they can trap legitimate emails.
