Roof Help

The image attached was created in turbocad. I tried to create in TFP but run into difficulties. The awning gable is 35 degrees pitch and the main roof 35 degrees and 11 degrees running from the ridge to the end of the deck. Easy in TC but difficult in TFP. I would prefer to draw in TFP as editing and material application is a breeze.
Question. In creating this roof design would it be better to use the surface tool or the roof tool and then modify. Any help would be appreciated.

Couldn't dissagree more!!! 
As long as you have the walls right it is literally just a few clicks.

The upper floor appears to have short walls and partial sloping ceiling. If this is the case then you need to set the Building Locations Second Floor Wall Height accordingly (eg 1200 mm).

That set, select your roof and adjust its pitch to 33 degree.
Make sure you are on the Second Floor location and click the roof into place.
Select the deck edge of the roof (make sure the only green arrow is this edge.
Right click and select Break.
Click along the edge where the left edge ofthe deck is (there will now be two arrows on this edge of the roof).
Select the longer of the two (make sure only this edge is green,
Drag the edge out to cover the deck.
Change the new left edge to Gable.
Change the Deck edge to 11 degrees
Change the Deck edge Suppor Height to about 2100mm (so that the 11 degree roof meets the ridge line).

Hopefully the image will meake it clearer.

Use a Surface to do the awning.

Allan, many thanks for the detailed reply. It was difficult for me to create the roof design in TFP as I am still in the learning phase using this program and was not quite sure how to go about the task. Your explanation will greatly assist me in the learning process.

The model is looking great Bob (looks better than the TurboCAD one!!) - will look forward to seeing it with the guttering, downpipes, landscaping etc

Allan thanks for the comments. Rendering in TFP is much simpler and a breeze to do, much more complicated in TC to achieve the same results. Editing in TFP is also much easier particularly roofs. Adding landscaping is almost impossible and time consuming. The render I posted in TC was only a basic render and not advanced. TC uses lightworks for rendering and you need to me a brain surgeon to work it out and get top results.

Hi Bob,

I presume your remark about "Adding landscape" being "almost impossible..." referred to TCad.

Actually I much prefer Lightworks rendering. Before V12 rendering used Lightworks and it was so easy - actually better and easier than the current TFP. However I understand that in TC it is much harder to use.  Obviously architectural rendering and landscaping, is not TCad's primary purpose - it excells in other areas.

It will be interesting to see if TFP 17 inherits the new rendering options that are coming in Envisioneer 8. It generally does, so that should make getting good renders quicker and better.

Allan, yes I was referring to landscaping in TC. I have added the guttering and downing piping to the design.
Again, many thanks for your help on this one. It would have taken me ages to work out the roof design. Your guttering profile is included and looks great.

It is looking good Bob! Keep it up and you will be able to move in soon!! 

The gutters/downpipes look great. Will have the box one shortly.  I had almost finised when my computer rebooted automatically for one of the usual Microsoft updates when I was away from it and I lost it!

By the way, you can add attachments to the original post, (if you forget them the first time) by clicking the Modify button at the top right of the post area.
