Yes, you're right- I will be using DXFs to bring into TC- they work better.  I plan on doing working drawings in TC, so I was just getting my feet wet/ testing the waters, and I wanted to at least try the 3ds since it was an option.  I was able to open your test 3ds- thank you. I was also able to export/import/simplify/export it myself and open it in TC, thanks to your & Pat's help.  Importing directly tro the catalog is definitely the way to go (rather than import wizard)
